Centennial defeated Liberty 74-65 in overtime to win its fourth consecutive girls state title Friday night at Lawlor Events Center in Reno. The Bulldogs trailed by 15 points entering the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs’ girls basketball team received double-digit scoring from four players and rolled over Reno in the Class 4A state semifinals Thursday by a final score of 68-30.
Melanie Isbell scored 20 points, including a back-breaking 3-pointer in the third quarter. She led four double-digit scorers as Centennial cruised to a 75-45 victory over Spring Valley in the Sunset Region title game at Legacy.
Spring Valley’s girls basketball team controlled Thursday’s semifinal game from the opening whistle. Essence Booker scored 17 points and Kayla Harris nearly had a double-double to propel the Grizzlies over Bishop Gorman, 56-44 at Legacy.
Foothill’s Keilani Brown scored 13 points Wednesday as the Falcons defeated host Basic 56-39 to secure the Southeast League’s No. 2 playoff seed.
