Raffled puppies heading to new homes

The puppies rescued from a January pet shop fire started going to their new homes Thursday morning. The first three winners of a raffle to find owners for the 25 canines got to meet their furry friends about 10 a.m.

Judge rejects lower bail for defendants in pet shop arson case

The two people charged with trying to burn down a pet shop with 27 puppies inside pleaded not guilty Wednesday. Gloria Lee, 35, and Kirk Bills, 27, both appeared before District Judge David Barker in navy blue jail scrubs with their legs and hands shackled.

Man shot by Las Vegas police had fake gun, undersheriff says

The man shot by Las Vegas police last week confronted officers with a fake gun, police said Monday. Jason Mahe, 29, was shot seven times in the parking lot of Dotty’s Casino near Rancho and Vegas drives during the late-night confrontation, according to police. He remained in critical condition at University Medical Center.
