‘Super Size Me’ documentarian, Morgan Spurlock, dies

Documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, an Oscar-nominee who made food and American diets his life’s work, famously eating only at McDonald’s for a month to illustrate the dangers of a fast-food diet, has died at age 53.

Library district reduces rates for theater use

The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Board of Trustees heard from the public Sept. 13 regarding its rental fee structure for library facilities. The discussion prompted the board to vote to reduce its fees, effective immediately, including the hourly rate from $170 to $40.

Dr. Seuss’ characters will be unleashed during “Seussical” at the Henderson Pavilion

An upcoming production of “Seussical” taps into the imagination of Dr. Seuss to bring reader favorites to life in this musical presented by RagTag Entertainment and Music Theatre International. The show is scheduled for 8 p.m. Sept. 21-23 and Sept. 28-30 at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. Tickets are $10.

Library district to revisit fee structure for rental rates

When falling property values cut the Las Vegas-Clark County Library district’s budget, the district increased user fees for the theater at the Summerlin Library and Performing Arts Center. Groups that used the theater complained that the fees were too high. Now, library district staff members plan to recommend a revised fee structure at the next Board of Trustees meeting, set for Sept. 13.
