Michael Clark plans to close his shop, On the Road Books & Records, formerly known as Michael’s Used Books, Clark County plans to host a surplus auction and libraries plan events.

Dr. Quannah McCall was regarded as a “distinguished pioneer in Nevada” thanks to his dentistry practice. He began his practice in Pioche, Nev., where his father also was a dentist. In 1936, the governor selected Quannah as the Nevada State Dentist for his efforts touring Nevada schools in a dental truck and house trailer offering kids dental care. In tow was his young daughter, Connie.
Though her own memory isn’t very clear, many people in the Las Vegas arts community remember Bernice Fischer for her support.

The Silvertones singing group plans to mark two decades with a special show, “20 Years of Music,” scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at the Starbright Theatre.
The Faith Lutheran Theatre Company plans to perform “All Shook Up,” which is based on William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” but features Elvis Presley as the star. It includes more than 20 of Presley’s greatest hits, including “Jailhouse Rock” and “It’s Now or Never.”
Garfield’s Restaurant plans to host an outdoor festival with live music and food trucks Saturday at 2620 Regatta Drive and hopes the gathering will become a monthly event.
This week’s event highlights include the Help Save the Animals Car Show & Swap Meet to benefit The Animal Foundation, a free family concert and performances by ventriloquist Ronn Lucas.
