Talent set in stone: Summerlin sculptor invited to participate in prestigious art events

For sculptor Dorit Schwartz, her art is all about an appreciation for the organic beauty found in nature. The Summerlin resident’s work will be part of the 30th anniversary of the Mission Federal ArtWalk, scheduled for April 26 and 27 in San Diego, and featured at the St. Jude black tie benefit set for May 3 at The Smith Center.

Red Rock Canyon serves as muse for artists-in-residence program

When Linda Campbell moved to Las Vegas from Los Angeles last fall, she was unaware that the Red Rock Canyon Interpretive Association was looking for artists for its first residency program. Her husband saw the flier and urged her to look into it. Of 20 entrants, she was one of three selected.

Workshops help would-be game cooks hunt for flavor

Cooking game meat can be tougher than tracking down the prey from which it originated, but it doesn’t have to be. The Nevada Department of Wildlife is planning cooking classes to help hunters understand the way to handle and cook game meat. The first was on March 22 at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts.
