Arrest made in fire that damaged vacant apartment building

A 29-year-old Las Vegas woman has been arrested and charged with four counts of arson after a fire this morning that started in an alley behind several businesses in the 1800 block of East Charleston Boulevard and spread to two vacant buildings in the 1800 block of Lewis Avenue, according to the Las Vegas Fire Department.

Jury awards $5 million to family of Las Vegas chef

A Clark County jury awarded more than $5 million to the family of a Las Vegas chef who died after taking methadone prescribed by his doctor. After a two-and-a-half week trial, the jury decided against the doctor, Gauthum Reddy, in the malpractice and wrongful death lawsuit, but also found Chris Davis partly responsible for his own death.

Henderson man pleads guilty in helicopter laser strikes

James Zipf, 30, of Henderson admitted in federal court Thursday that he pointed a laser at Las Vegas police helicopters earlier this year. Zipf pleaded guilty to one of six felony counts. The other counts will be thrown out as part of a plea agreement.
