I-A SWIMMING: Boulder City boys, girls earn titles

Boulder City’s boys made it somewhat interesting by scoring 110 points to defeat second-place Sierra Vista by 25 points. But the girls dominated throughout, scoring 156 points to easily get past second-place Truckee, which finished with 111 points. It was the sixth consecutive championship for the Eagles’ boys and the fourth straight for the girls.

I-A SOFTBALL: Eagles, Grizzlies advance to title game

Michaela Hood pitched three innings of relief and went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs to help Spring Valley’s softball team to a 13-3 win over Boulder City in six innings in the winners’ bracket final of the Division I-A state tournament Friday at Shadow Mountain in Sparks.

I-A BASEBALL: Morelli’s double moves Boulder City into title game

Michael Morelli’s RBI double scored Zach Murphy with the go-ahead run in the sixth inning Friday to help Boulder City’s baseball team rally for a 6-4 win over Elko in the winners’ bracket final of the Division I-A state tournament at Galena High in Reno.

I-A SOFTBALL: Michaela Hood guides Spring Valley to victory

Michaela Hood tossed a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts and hit the go-ahead, two-run double in the fourth inning Thursday to rally Spring Valley’s softball team to a 9-2 victory over Churchill County in the opening round of the Division I-A state tournament at Shadow Mountain in Sparks.

I-A GOLF: Magruder holds off Ancell for championship

Faith Lutheran’s Charlie Magruder withstood a late push from Pahrump Valley’s Austen Ancell and finished the tournament at 2-under-par 142 Wednesday to win his second Division I-A state championship at Mountain Falls.
