TARKANIAN BOYS: Colorado champ edges Gorman for title

In its first three attempts at winning the Tarkanian Classic title, Bishop Gorman’s boys basketball team was turned away by some of the nation’s top players.

It was Overland (Colo.) senior De’Ron Davis’ turn to deny the Gaels on Saturday.

TARKANIAN CLASSIC: Durango off target in loss

Durango went nearly six minutes without scoring in the second half, and the cold spell proved costly in a 51-44 loss to Lynwood (Calif.) in the Tarkanian Classic at Bishop Gorman.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: Matlock, Wildcats edge past Eldorado

Bianca Matlock had 17 points, and Armonnie Byrd added 10 points and 12 rebounds on Tuesday to help Las Vegas’ girls basketball team to a 51-47 win over visiting Eldorado.

BOYS SOCCER: Donate’s goal helps Pioneers win Northeast crown

Edgar Donate’s goal with 12 minutes left in the match broke a 2-2 tie and allowed Canyon Springs’ boys soccer team to clinch the Northeast League title with a 3-2 win at Las Vegas High on Thursday.

VOLLEYBALL: Goddard, Aggies beat Bonanza, claim Northwest title

Hannah Goddard had 22 kills and five aces Wednesday to help Arbor View’s girls volleyball team clinch its second consecutive Northwest League title with a 25-17, 25-14, 25-10 sweep of host Bonanza.
