Trailing 10-8 in the fifth set on Thursday, Las Vegas High’s boys volleyball team closed the match on a 7-2 run to knock off Green Valley — the defending state champions — with a 25-17, 21-25, 25-27, 25-21, 15-12 victory in the Class 4A Sunrise Region semifinals at Coronado.
Basic scored three runs in the first inning and rode a strong performance from sophomore Trace Evans to a 7-3 home victory over Coronado on Thursday in the Sunrise Region playoffs.
