Jacob Ortega’s two-run triple with one out in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday keyed a three-run rally that lifted Faith Lutheran’s baseball team to a 3-1 win at Las Vegas High.
Nicholas held off hard-charging Massimiliano Swenson of Bishop Gorman to become Desert Oasis’ first region cross country champion. The Diamondbacks also won the boys region team title, another first in school history.

Frank Sessa hit a three-run home run in the third inning to lead the Sunset to an 8-3 win over the Sunrise in the Division I All-Star Game at the College of Southern Nevada.
Sami Dillow won two individual events at Heritage on Saturday to help Foothill’s girls swimming team to a 170-102 win over Rancho.
Michael Velazquez set two school records Saturday and helped Green Valley’s boys swimming team to a 190-73 win over Valley at Multi-Generational.
