Shad balls are deeper than they have been in recent weeks. Last weekend, bait and stripers were at depths of about 80 to 90 feet. Anglers should have success fishing the backs of coves as stripers follow their food source as well as stable water temperatures, which are found at about 40 feet. There will be a new moon Saturday, which should improve catch rates for those fishing at night with a light.
