Woman killed in Monday’s I-15 crash identified
The woman who was killed Monday afternoon in a crash in the Spaghetti Bowl was identified by the Clark County coroner’s office on Tuesday.
Josephine Mills, 65, of Las Vegas, was driving a Ford SUV about 1 p.m. south on Interstate 15 when she lost control and struck the freeway’s center wall twice, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.
Mills died at University Medical Center. A 75-year-old Las Vegas man who was the passenger in the SUV was also treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, NHP said.
Troopers originally said they were looking for the driver of a red semitrailer with a black tarp who witnesses said veered into Mills’ lane near the I-15-U.S. 95 Highway interchange. But evidence on the road did not show any signs of it, NHP spokeswoman Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said in a release Tuesday.
This marks Nevada Highway Patrol-Southern Command’s fifth fatal crash this year.
