Red Rock Canyon’s scenic loop temporarily closed

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area’s scenic loop is closed temporarily Saturday afternoon because of a large number of visitors.

The conservation area made the announcement at 1:47 p.m. on Twitter.

“This weather is definitely spring-like, meaning we are experiencing high visitation and the Scenic Drive is closed temporarily due to capacity,” according to the post.

Bay laurel trees struggle with hot temperatures

Q: Our sweet bay laurel trees face east and are watered by a drip irrigation system on a separate line for trees only. Obviously, these trees are not doing well. They were originally 24-inch boxed trees planted in 2013. Our HOA contends they are close to the end of their lives, and they will be removed. Any ideas?
