Motorcycle officer injured in collision

A Metro motorcycle officer was struck by a vehicle and sent to a hospital Friday afternoon.

A call came in at 2:44 p.m reporting that a motorcycle officer was struck by another vehicle near the intersection of Durango and Starboard drives, Metro said in a news release.

The officer was transported to University Medical Center’s Trauma Center, the release said. The officer suffered multiple nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

“Durango is shut down for north and southbound travel” between Starboard Drive and Desert Inn Road, the release said.

Metro’s fatal detail has investigators on scene, police said.

No further details were immediately available.
