Pedestrian hit by vehicle dies in northeast valley

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and killed in the northeast valley Thursday night, Las Vegas police said.

Officers responded to the intersection of North Sloan Lane and East Lake Mead Boulevard just before 8 p.m.

Metro supervisor Lt. Ken Ball said the pedestrian was killed while crossing a street.

Additional details were not immediately available. Detectives with Metro's Accident Investigation Section shut down traffic in the area while they gather facts about the crash.
