Motorcyclist ‘riding reckless’ killed in crash on Summerlin Parkway, NHP says
A motorcyclist who police say was riding recklessly was killed in a crash June 8 on the Summerlin Parkway, according to authorities.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says the crash occurred at 9:48 p.m. on the Summerlin Parkway near the eastbound off-ramp for North Buffalo Drive.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a rider of a multi-colored 2012 Honda CBR1000 motorcycle and a light blue 2022 Honda Civic sedan participated in an “unauthorized speed contest.”
The motorcycle was observed riding recklessly and weaving in and out of travel lanes through traffic, NHP said.
The rider of the motorcycle, identified by police as 37-year-old Michael Scardino of Henderson, struck the Honda Civic sedan on its right rear side.
“The Honda motorcycle became entangled into the right rear tire, separating the motorcycle in two and ejecting the rider,” authorities said.
Police said the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.
