Dining Pick of the Week: Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers

Freddy's is bright and friendly, which is perfect for any discussion about frozen custard, a rich-tasting ice cream with more egg yolk and less air than regular ice cream. It tastes best when eaten fresh, and yes, Freddy makes his fresh daily. Enjoy it in a dish or cone, order a custard cake, or make a sundae or thick Concrete with hot fudge, Oreo, Snickers, gummy worms, cookie dough, coconut, butterscotch, sprinkles, pecans, pineapple or marshmallow. Those lean beef steakburgers are made to order and served on butter-toasted buns. There is the original double with cheese, double patty melt, bacon and cheese double steakburger and triple steakburger California style. Other sandwiches include grilled chicken breast, veggie steakburger, chicken tenders and Freddy's Famous Chicago dog or chili cheese dog. You will also find chili bowls, onion rings and chili cheese fries. Besides regular condiments, ask for grilled onions, sauerkraut, relish, diced onions, pickles and jalapenos. Single steakburgers start at $2.99, and shakes and Concretes begin at $3.09. Freddy's is open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
