Backyard BBQ blends extreme sports, music

New music artists will mix it up with alternative sports athletes when Journeys Backyard BBQ makes a tour stop in Henderson Saturday at the Galleria at Sunset, 1300 W. Sunset Road.

The free event will be held in the south parking lot from noon to 7 p.m.

Up and coming bands from the Las Vegas area will perform while top pro skateboard, BMX and motocross athletes will demonstrate their sports in the tour's 60,000-square-foot playground of jumps and ramps.

Freestyle motocross pros will fly and flip nearly three stories high during performances at 12:45, 2:45 and 5:30 p.m. BMX and skateboard pros perform at 1:15 and 4 p.m.

There will be a battle of the bands beginning at noon and concerts by The Record Life at 4:40 p.m. and Saosin at 6 p.m.

Fans can participate in giveaways or entertain themselves at the tour's interactive fun zone, featuring more than 15 game booths. There also will be a variety of contests for participants.
