Scooter driver dies after crashing into bus

The 46-year-old man who crashed his scooter into a city bus March 7 died Friday from his injuries, police said.
According to witness statements and evidence at the scene, David Wear was riding a 2000 Jonway scooter west on Sahara Avenue, just east of Lindell Road, in the right travel lane when he veered into the marked bus lane, police said.
Wear crashed into the left side of a Regional Transportation Commission bus traveling in the same direction and fell beneath the bus, police said.
An off-duty doctor aided Wear until police responded to the crash at 5:35 p.m.
Wear was transported to University Medical Center Trauma, where he died nearly a week later, according to police
The driver of the RTC bus, 43-year-old Vernon James, was not injured in the collision.
The collision remains under investigation.
This was the 20th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction for 2015.
