UNLV shortstop Bryson Stott, who also went to Desert Oasis High School, made the 26-man USA Baseball Collegiate National team for an international series. Team USA will play Japan in various U.S. cities from Tueday to Sunday and at Cuba on July 10-14.
Baseball’s winter meetings will return to Las Vegas in 2018 at Mandalay Bay. The resort also will host the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics annual convention in 2020 and 2022.

I was fortunate to have some good at-bats last few weeks and I tied an NCAA record for reaching base safely in 18 consecutive plate appearances. I also broke UNLV’s record for consecutive hits with 10. It is an honor to reach those milestones but I would trade those individual accolades for a couple of team wins.
After making its first NCAA regional in nine years, UNLV hopes its baseball program builds on this season’s success. Coach Tim Chambers has another strong recruiting class coming in.
Former UNLV baseball coach Fred Dallimore didn’t know if Matt Williams wanted to be a manager or a coach someday when he was an All-America shortstop on Dallimore’s team in 1986. But Dallimore did know that if Williams wanted to manage, he would be good at it because he loved baseball that much.
