Nevada takes first sip of Colorado River drought plan

Thursday’s 6-0 vote by the Southern Nevada Water Authority board aims to keep more water in the shrinking river system through voluntary cuts. The deal isn’t done, though, as Arizona and California are still debating their cuts.

 
Lake Mead skirts shortage for another year

According to projections released Tuesday by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, the reservoir east of Las Vegas will have enough water in it on Jan. 1 to stave off a first-ever federal shortage declaration.
