Damage to covered oleanders may be minimal

Reports from the weather station at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension orchard in North Las Vegas put the low temperatures Dec. 6 and 10 at 20 F with daytime highs around the same as the inside of a refrigerator. I am sure this caused some damage to plants. I posted the weather report on my blog for those interested.

Shower diverter problem can be quickly fixed – VIDEO

Q: I have a bathtub/shower combination, and when I pull the knob on top of the spout to start the shower, only a little water comes out of the shower head while most of it comes out of the tub spout. Do I have a clog in the pipe or is this a water pressure problem?

Las Vegas Design Center announces Design of the Year

Las Vegas Design Center recently announced the 2013 Design of the Year at its annual holiday gala Dec. 5. Top honors went to Peggy Scinta of P. Scinta Designs for her total remodel of an outdated home turned bachelor pad for a successful young man who has extensively traveled the world.

Light bulb market heats up

The government mandated phase-out of traditional incandescent light bulbs began in 2012. That year, the old 100-watt incandescent bulb got the boot, and in 2013, the 75-watt bulb was nixed. 2014 will see the slow end to 40- and 60-watt traditional incandescent bulbs.

Mirrors should be hung to reflect nice view
