For a school that stresses academics, The Meadows School has an art program that is making an impact of its own. Six of its students were art award recipients in the recent Scholastic Art & Writing Awards., with their work set to be displayed this month at the Springs Preserve.
Toys 4 Smiles was founded to extend the kindness of strangers to children in need by crafting simple wooden toy vehicles for schoolchildren in low-income areas. In December, it completed its 200,000th toy, but the group is in need as well. It’s hoping to find a benefactor who can ease the strain of its operating on the financial edge by donating workshop space.
