3 best things to buy in April

Spring is officially here, and so are a variety of sales on certain items. Budgeting is much easier when you pay less for everyday items, and one way to do it is by making purchases during key times of the year. Just remember, it’s only worth it if you spend on things you would have to buy anyway.

The Best Items to Buy in April

Airline Tickets and Vacation Bookings

If you’re a frequent traveler, now is one of the best times to plan a vacation — whether it’s a cruise, a trip to Europe or just a road trip to the next city; April marks the best month to get deals on airline tickets, hotels and rental cars. April starts off one of two “shoulder seasons,” which are spans of time when popular destinations offer pleasant weather along with travel prices that can be 15 percent to 50 percent lower than peak times. This is especially true when traveling to Europe, where airline tickets could be 30 percent cheaper.

Most people plan their vacationing for the summer months, which is why rates on airline tickets and hotels are more expensive then. Take a springtime trip instead and you’ll see big savings and beat the crowds, too.

Laptops

Electronics like TVs and laptops are dropping in price right now, so don’t wait too much longer if you’re planning to buy one. You definitely want to minimize a big expense like a new computer as much as possible, which is why it’s great to know they drop in price twice a year. One of those times is during April, and it’s probably due to the fact that manufacturers tend to announce new models during this month and need to start moving out old inventory.

Televisions

If you missed out on Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals in November, you still have the chance to score a new flat-screen at a discount. April marks the end of the fiscal year in Japan, and like laptops, new models start coming out at this time as well. That means there is inventory from the first quarter of the year that needs to be sold right away to make room for models. You could find discounts of up to 20 percent.
