Bally’s on Las Vegas Strip reopens

Updated July 23, 2020 - 4:21 pm

Caesars Entertainment Inc. has reopened its fifth Las Vegas hotel-casino.

Showgirls, entertainers and an Elvis impersonator were all at Bally’s Thursday morning as it opened its doors once again, after being shut down more than four months. It now offers gaming, hotel rooms, restaurants and other amenities.

It was the first Caesars Strip property to reopen since Eldorado Resorts Inc. completed its $17.3 billion acquisition of Caesars Entertainment Corp. on Monday, taking control of its properties and name. The Reno-based company now operates 52 properties in 16 states.

Gary Selesner, regional president of Caesars Entertainment, said the reopening helps celebrate the company’s “exciting next chapter.”

“This has been a historic week with the successful closing of the merger between Eldorado Resorts and Caesars Entertainment,” he said in a Thursday news release. “We are incredibly happy to welcome our guests back to Bally’s Las Vegas.”

The property offers a variety of food and beverage options, including Burger Brasserie, Buca di Beppo, Blizz Frozen Yogurt, Bally’s Food Court, Lick, Nosh, Tequila Taqueria and LaVazza.

Its Blu Pool is open daily, along with a fitness center and tennis complex. Open attractions include the Real Bodies exhibit and a Twilight Zone-themed mini golf course. Many specialty boutiques inside Bally’s Shopping Promenade are also now open, according to the release.

Caesars Palace, the Flamingo, Harrah’s and Paris Las Vegas also have reopened. The Linq Hotel’s gaming floor and other amenities also are open, along with the Linq Promenade.

It’s unclear which Caesars property will reopen next. In a July 17 news release, Caesars said it would open its remaining Las Vegas properties “in line with customer demand, regulatory requirements and any additional health and safety considerations.”

Planet Hollywood, The Cromwell and the Rio remain closed.

At least one Strip asset is expected to be sold by the new company, but President and Chief Operating Officer Anthony Carano has given no clues as to which one it would be.
