McCarran to get grant money for runway reconstruction

McCarran International Airport will get $26 million in grant money over two years for a runway reconstruction project.

The office of Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev., on Monday announced the awarding of the grant, $20 million from the 2014 fiscal year and $6 million from 2015.

The grant money is dependent on passage of an appropriations bill.

Titus, a member of the House aviation subcommittee, said the funding would be used to reconstruct one of the four runways at McCarran, which is on track to serve more than 42 million passengers in 2014 and is the sixth busiest commercial airport in the nation according to FlightStats.com.
