SLS Las Vegas, formerly the Sahara, will begin hiring

The $415 million SLS Las Vegas will begin hiring in stages, with the initial phase focused on some 300 management positions in the hotel, casino, finance and other areas.

The former Sahara, which re-opens Labor Day weekend as a renovated 1,600-room Strip resort, is expected to employ 2,500 workers.

Job candidates are asked to visit slsvegas.com/careers to view open positions. Applications are only accepted online.

“We are excited to bring energy and jobs back to the north end of the Strip,” said SLS Las Vegas President Rob Oseland.

Additional positions are expected to be filled this spring.

Los Angeles-based SBE Entertainment owns SLS Las Vegas in partnership with private equity firm Stockbridge Capital Group of San Francisco.

The reconfigured 60,000-square-foot casino will have 80 table games and 800 slot machines.

SBE will oversee all aspects of SLS Las Vegas. The company said The Bazaar by Jose Andres, Katsuya by Starck, Umami Burger, The Sayers Club and 800 Degrees are part of the SLS lineup. In 2012, SBE announced an agreement with Los Angeles retailer Fred Segal to place seven different outlets throughout the property.

SBE operates 60 restaurants and nightclubs. The company’s loyalty program could have 5 million names by the time SLS Las Vegas opens.

Besides existing hotels in Los Angeles, New York and Miami, SLS hotels are being planned for Philadelphia, Seattle, Boston and Houston.

SBE and Stockbridge acquired the Sahara in 2007.
