Las Vegas police seek sex assault suspect

Las Vegas police seek the public's help in identifying a suspect alleged to have attacked a woman at gunpoint in the southwest valley Tuesday.

Police said Wednesday at 5:25 a.m. they responded to Pebble Road and Durango Drive on a report of a sexual assault.

Police said the woman, whose age was not released, was walking south on Decatur Boulevard near Russell Road when a man stopped and offered her a ride.

Police said the man then drove the victim to a desert area and sexually assaulted her at gunpoint.

The white man is between the ages of 55 and 65. He stands about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs more than 200 pounds, police said. He has blue eyes, military-style cropped white hair and is balding on top. His complexion is described as pockmarked and reddish.

He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants, police said.

The vehicle he drove was described as a late '80s to early '90s model burgundy four-door sedan in good condition.

Anyone with information regarding the assault is urged to call the Metropolitan Police Department Sexual Assault Section at 828-3421 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
