Police arrest Goodsprings man accused of impersonating police officer

A Goodsprings man was arrested Tuesday, accused of impersonating a police officer and conducting several "vehicle stops" during an eight-month period.

Police said Wednesday that Bradley Wedge bought a retired Nevada Highway Patrol 2006 Crown Victoria and used it to pull over drivers. Wedge's car had a customized license plate that read "K9UNIT."

Police accuse Wedge of conducting at least five vehicle stops in which he would approach at a high rate of speed and activate LED lights, similar to emergency lights, and pull people over.

Police are asking anyone who might have been pulled over by Wedge to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.

They said unmarked vehicles have a distinct siren, light and strobe-light display. Officers will have both a badge and a department-issued identification.

In early June, 32-year-old Douglas Brian Irvin Jr. was accused of impersonating a police detective to force women to have sex with him, police said.

According to his arrest report, Irvin convinced a masseuse with the stage name Isabella to meet him at a hotel room at Hooters casino May 15.

She said Irvin began to touch her sexually against her will. When she told him to stop, he offered her $10,000 for sex.

When Isabella agreed to sex, Irvin pulled out an identification card that said "police" on it. Irvin told her he was a vice detective and she would be arrested unless she had sex with him for free.

On May 11, Las Vegas police began investigating Wayne Robert Skeen, 30, accused of impersonating an off-duty Nevada Highway Patrol trooper.

Police said Skeen had been arrested in several states and had several aliases.

They said he drove dark-colored Ford Expedition altered to look like an unmarked police vehicle. He also had a uniform similar to a Nevada Highway Patrol uniform.
