Victim’s husband included in two arrests in slaying of Las Vegas woman

Two men were arrested Wednesday in the death of a 46-year-old woman late last month.

One of the men was the woman's husband, Las Vegas police said. He is a firefighter with the Las Vegas Fire Department.

Capt. Chris Jones with the Robbery and Homicide Bureau said George Tiaffay, 40, and Noel Stevens, 37, face charges in the death of Shauna Tiaffay, whose body was found in her home.

George Tiaffay called police about 9:15 a.m. Sept. 29 to report the death at the Willowbrook Apartments, 2601 S. Pavilion Center Drive, near the intersection of Sahara Avenue and just off the Las Vegas Beltway.

The suspects face recommended charges of murder with a deadly weapon, robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit murder, robbery and burglary with a deadly weapon.

Jones said George Tiaffay and his wife were separated. Police don't know the motive for the homicide and didn't detail the evidence against the suspects. He said it appeared George Tiaffay and Stevens were longtime acquaintances.

The Clark County coroner's office ruled Shauna Tiaffay died of multiple blunt-force injuries as the result of an assault.

A spokesman for the city of Las Vegas said George Tiaffay was hired by the Las Vegas Fire Department in October 2002.
