Nye County sheriff’s office seeks suspect in attempted kidnapping

The Nye County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man suspected of trying to kidnap a woman Friday night in Pahrump.

Just before 10:30 p.m., patrol units responded to a residence in the central area of town after receiving a report of an attempted kidnapping, the sheriff’s office said in a release Saturday. According to police, two girls and one woman were walking on Calvada Boulevard when a black truck approached them at a parking lot near the intersection with Pahrump Valley Boulevard.

Police said that an unknown black man got out of the truck and “attempted to force the adult female into the vehicle,” but she “was able to fight off her attacker before fleeing.” The truck left the scene, traveling north on Pahrump Valley Boulevard, the sheriff’s office said.

The vehicle was described as a four-door, lifted, black truck, possibly a Dodge Ram. The sheriff’s office described the man as approximately 6-foot-1 with a muscular build, dark complexion and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with blue jean shorts, red shoes and white socks.

The sheriff’s office said that anyone with information could contact the office at 775-751-7000, or contact Secret Witness at 1-800-794-9834.
