Police investigate body found with apparent gunshot wounds in northeast Las Vegas

Police are investigating a body with apparent gunshot wounds found in a northeast valley backyard Saturday afternoon.

At 1:17 p.m., the Metropolitan Police Department received a report of a body found near an apartment in the 3200 block of Covey Lane, close to the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard North and East Cheyenne Avenue, Metro said in a press release.

”Arriving officers discovered a deceased Hispanic male adult who suffered from apparent gunshot wounds,” the release said.

Metro said the shooting may have taken place in the apartment at about 10 a.m., and the homicide remains under investigation.

This was the 109th homicide investigated by Metro in its jurisdiction in 2016.
