‘Buffy’ actor Nicholas Brendon arrested for allegedly choking girlfriend

LOS ANGELES — "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star Nicholas Brendon's legal woes continue as the actor was arrested in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on Wednesday night after allegedly choking his girlfriend.

He was charged with two counts of criminal mischief and one count of obstruction of breathing, which are misdemeanors, as well as one count of robbery in the third degree, a felony, according to People.

Saratoga Springs Police Department Lieut. Bob Jillson told People that police were called to a hotel right before midnight for a domestic disturbance.

"We got to the room and we found a 33-year-old female there by herself, and she reported that she had been in a domestic incident with Nick, and he had subsequently left before we got there," Jillson told People. "She did not have any physical injuries that we were aware of."

The woman told police that she was visiting Brendon, best known for playing Xander on "Buffy" from 1996 to 2003, to return his belongings. He allegedly got upset when she tried to leave, taking her car keys and smashing her phone.

Officers found and arrested Brendon a few blocks from the hotel. He spent the night in jail, but has since been released from custody.

This is the latest in a series of legal run-ins for Brendon. He was arrested on three other occasions this year. He entered rehab for substance abuse, depression and alcoholism in June.
