Diplo, Deadmau5 lead hate parade against EDC

Deadmau5 (pronunciation: “Deadmouse”) and Diplo— two iconic headliners known in Vegas clubs — have attacked Las Vegas’ DJ-fest, Electric Daisy Carnival.

Wynn-Encore resident headliner Diplo started this spit fight on Twitter.

The EDC main stage looks like a “Walt Disney present(s) princess castle on crystal meth how do u guys play that thing & look at yourself in the mirror,” Diplo tweeted, as first spotted in Billboard.

Deadmau5, a frequent verbal attacker of rivals, yet who often comes across as a young fogey, joined the EDC hate parade on Twitter, while he and Diplo were both performing in Delaware:

“Here are my options, go play EDC with every (expletive) DJ in the world, or corner my own (expletive) market. GEE, tough call,” Deadmau5, who has played the Wynn-Encore clubs over the years, tweeted.

Then Deadmau5 implied his desire to be bigger than everybody else with this tweet:

“‘EDC’ alone is a bigger brand than any (expletive) DJ who’s ever played it. Kinda sets the tone for where your place is there.”

FYI: Deadmau5 came to fame by DJing his great songs while wearing a big helmet thing that always reminded me of the Jack in the Box mascot but with Disney-esque ears.

So then EDC guru Pasquale Rotella posted an old photo of Diplo wearing a hat in the shape of a strawberry at a 2014 festival, to prove Diplo is a hypocrite (or maybe a prankster, it’s hard to tell with Diplo).

And Rotella took on Deadmau5.

“You speak like we tried booking you,” Rotella replied, adding a smiley face.

What did we learn from this charade? We learned Deadmau5 wasn’t at EDC, because I stopped listening to and caring about Deadmau5 last year. I wish he’d get his groove back.

THE BREAKUP ‘GIRL’

There’s been quite a bit of celebrity romance drama in the news lately, so let’s get perspective from breakup expert Carly Aquilino.

Aquilino headlines The Venetian “Lipshtick” comedy series Saturday. And Sunday, the “Girl Code” comedian co-stars in “Girl Code vs. Guy Code” on MTV2.

First up: Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift gave us the breakup of the year.

They’re matching-outfit relationship was like a “Sears family photo,” Aquilino quipped.

“They really broke my heart, along with each other’s hearts, because I was wearing matching overalls, too,” she joked.

The comedian doesn’t believe Swift cheated on Harris, as some do.

“She doesn’t seem like that kind of person. But that’s just because I love her,” Aquilino said.

Next: Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are going through an ugly divorce, with Heard’s team allegedly leaking texts to the press to support her claim of abuse, and Depp’s team publicly supporting his defense.

“That’s when you know you’re in a celebrity relationship” — when you have teams of supporters sending information to entertainment media, Aquilino said.

But she’s mostly been ignoring the Depp/Heard disaster, “because it’s sad.”

Aquilino’s favorite famous couple: Anna Faris plus Chris Pratt.

“I think they’re really in love, and I think they’re cute together,” she said. “It’s difficult for anyone in the industry to be in a healthy, stable relationship. Not even because of the temptation, but because of the schedules.

“It’s hard to make it work, so you have to appreciate it when people actually do that and make it work and make the sacrifice.”

By the way, this weekend is Aquilino’s first time in Las Vegas.

CHRIS BROWN BACK IN NEWS

Chris Brown, who had been a staple in the Drai’s nightclub roster for some time, is back on defense after a manager claimed Brown beat him, which Brown denies.

Manager Mike G’s job since 2012 was to change Brown’s image, after Brown beat up Rihanna, and smashed a morning TV room.

Brown was later accused of violent episodes at the Palms hotel, but he was cleared of wrongdoing both times.

Now Mike G claims Brown punched him in the face and neck so much, he went to the hospital, as TMZ broke the allegation.

The former manager is suing Brown, claiming the singer has “gang member friends,” TMZ reported, while Brown counterclaimed the manager stole from him, even though the manager claims he couldn’t have stolen money because a different manager handles finances.

Brown is not listed on Drai’s performance schedule for the summer or early fall.
