Dining Pick of the Week: Jacques Cafe

Jacques Cafe, A Casual American Bistro

Trails Village Center, 1910 Village Center Circle, Suite 1, 702-550-6363

Jacques Cafe combines a casual setting with flavors that reflect the influences of owner/chef Jacques Pauvert, accumulated as he traveled the world. The eatery is dedicated to natural ingredients such as hormone-free, grass-fed beef and seasonal produce from certified organic farms. In fact, the menu is dotted with bubbles indicating selections that are vegan (indicated by a V), gluten-free (GF) or ginger aioli (A). Lunch includes three organic soups — butternut, minestrone or the Summerlin, which has cauliflower, squash, coconut milk, green curry, cilantro and pesto — served with rustic bread. There are six types of salads combining varied ingredients such as blueberries, grilled asparagus, shiitake mushrooms, sunflower seeds and sugar-roasted walnuts to entice the palate. Sandwiches come with a side salad or french fries, and choices include beef brisket, turkey satay, grilled chicken breast, roasted vegetables, tofu, pastrami or roast beef. Burgers can be had on a bun or in a lettuce wrap. The Bonni Burger comes on a sweet Hawaiian roll, reflecting the years Pauvert operated his bistro on Maui. While beef burgers are on the menu, Jacques Cafe mixes it up by also offering turkey, salmon, tofu and tilapia versions. Dinner adds pasta and entrees to the mix. Pasta options feature Bolognese, Alfredo, primavera, marinara and seafood. Asian green soba noodles with short ribs come with a ponzu sauce. Entrees include short ribs marinated in red wine, Cornish game hen, grilled salmon, pork ribs and risotto. A children’s menu is available. Lunch items range from about $8 to $10 and dinner options from about $8 to $20. Jacques Cafe is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
