Dining Pick of the Week: Urban Turban

Urban Turban

3900 Paradise Road, 702-826-3217

Inside stone pillars on Paradise Road just past Corporate Drive sits Indian restaurant Urban Turban. The restaurant, an offshoot of the original in Auckland, New Zealand, is done in a modern-meets-classical theme, with an open kitchen and marble-topped bar providing the backdrop. The menu is diverse, with little dots letting diners know if the food is spicy, vegetarian and/or gluten free. Classic entrees range from $14.95 to $18.95 and include chicken tikka masala, served with butter naan, and pesto chili salmon served over noodles. Bombay Bites ($5 to $13) include choices of chicken, lamb, seafood and vegetarian, served as sliders, cutlets, bites, fritters, on a stick, in curry, over vegetables or in sauces. The bread list is expansive: roti ($2) is household Indian whole wheat bread; naan ($3) comes with garlic, cheese and butter; wheat bread ($3 to $4) with olive, mint or dried fruit; and flatbreads with butter chicken ($11) or garlic shrimp ($13). The curry here is bottomless and served with rice, naan and a small green salad. A children’s menu is available. Urban Turban is open from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Tuesday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday and Sunday and holidays. The restaurant is closed on Monday.
