Ikea hosted an all-you-can-eat Midsummer feast — VIDEO
After recently opening its first Southern Nevada outpost in May, Ikea is operating in true Las Vegas fashion by holding an all-you-can-eat buffet event.
Keeping with the Swedish tradition of “Midsommar” — known around the world as the longest day of the year — guests celebrated the start of summer at Ikea’s Midsummer Smörgåsbord event on Friday.
Attendees had the chance to indulge in a completely AYCE menu which featured everything from Swedish meatballs and lingonberries to smoked salmon with horseradish sauce and “Midsummer” fruit salad.
Ikea’s Midsummer Smörgåsbord is the first of many food events to be held at its in-store eatery.
On September 16, Ikea’s restaurant will commemorate the end of summer by hosting an all-you-can-eat crayfish buffet at its annual “Swedish Crayfish Party (Kräftskiva)”.
According to Ikea, “A Swedish tradition, the Crayfish Party dates back to the 1800’s when restrictions were placed on crayfish fishing season. August marked the beginning of crayfish season or the “crayfish premier.” To celebrate, families and friends would host late summer parties – congregating in paper hats and colorful crayfish-themed bibs – to enjoy good food and good company.”
