Larsen’s brings upscale option to Galleria at Sunset’s food offerings

After nearly 20 years, shoppers are no longer restricted to eating quick meals in the food court at the Galleria at Sunset mall, 1300 W. Sunset Road.

Opened June 10, Larsen's Grill was part of the mall's recent expansion, which included six restaurants and an outdoor plaza. Founded by Henderson resident Flemming Larsen, the location marks the restaurant's first in Las Vegas.

The upscale eatery features high wooden ceilings, stone pillars and a fireplace display in the dining area. Diners can also be serenaded by a pianist at the bar or take in the sunset while relaxing on the patio.

To start, customers can enjoy a variety of appetizers and sushi rolls, such as the fresh oysters, filet mignon sliders, Rainbow roll (California roll topped with albacore, ahi, salmon, shrimp and avocado) and Lobster Crunch roll (tempura fried lobster, crab salad, avocado and eel sauce wrapped in soy paper on a bed of dynamite sauce).

Known for its wet- and dry-aged steaks, the restaurant requires a skilled butcher to monitor the airflow, temperature and humidity of its meats at all times. During dry aging, the meat's natural enzymes act as tenderizers while it dehydrates. It concentrates the meat and creates a tender cut with intense flavor. During wet aging, the meat is vacuum-sealed for about 14 days. The enzymes still tenderize the meat, but dehydration does not occur.

In addition to steak, Larsen's also serves a variety of American comfort foods, such as the stuffed breaded chicken breast (mixed cheeses, artichoke hearts, broccoli and sundried tomatoes) or "THE" burger (served with lettuce, onions, applewood smoked bacon, tomatoes, pickles, cheese and Thousand Island dressing).

Most meals range from $15 to $55.

Larsen's Grill is open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Happy hour is served from 5 to 7 p.m. daily.
