Looking for Asian fusion? Try Mochiko Chicken

DINING OUT

MOCHIKO CHICKEN, 2101 S. DECATUR BLVD.

Mochiko Chicken, with former Hakkasan chef Lloyd Bansil in the kitchen, is an outgrowth of the popular Dragon Grille food truck and is owned by Jerry Misa and Sandra Lenska. Like the truck it specializes in Asian fusion food, with an emphasis on Hawaiian-inflected fried and chargrilled chicken tenders and bowls. They’re accompanied by seasoned fries, Asian coleslaw and nine house-made sauces: Asian Q, Polynesian, coconut curry, Mandarin sweet chili, sriracha sambal aioli, wasabi ranch and ginger teriyaki, plus rotating specials. Here’s a sample of the menu:

Fried chicken tenders: two pieces with seasoned fries, roll, sauce and drink, $6.99; three pieces with fries, roll, sauces, coleslaw and drink, $7.99; four pieces with fries, roll, sauces, coleslaw and drink, $9.99; tenders and waffles with drink, $6.99.

Fried chicken bowls with white or brown rice: Crispy Asian-Q, garlic lover’s, fried, spicy fried or crispy Mandarin, $7.99 each.
