View Dining Pick of the Week: Gotta Love Cheesecake

Gotta Love Cheesecake

5081 N. Rainbow Blvd., No. 100, 702-272-0044

Gotta Love Cheesecake began with the simple creations of a Michigan waitress named Helen Steel. Before she died in 2010, Steel shared her recipes with her daughter, Kathy Bastian, and granddaughter, Heidi Heath, who promised to carry out the dream she had of opening a small bakery. The northwest-area bakery opened in December and specializes in — you guessed it — cheesecakes. From Steel’s original cheesecakes (classic and fruit topped choices of strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, cherry, pineapple and apricot), to more decadent choices of Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter & Jelly, German Chocolate, Key Lime, Caramel Macchiato, Turtle, Coconut Cream and Banana Pudding, it makes you wonder if you’ve reached cheesecake heaven. Spirited cheesecakes are also available in the form of Mudslide, Amaretto, Margarita, Pina Colada, Bailey’s Irish Cream, Kahlua & Cream and Kahlua Kiss. Prices vary by size (cheesecakes come as 4, 8, 9 or 10 inches) and range from $5.95 for a 4-inch cheesecake to $31 for a 10-inch. Patrons interested in sizes larger than 4 inches must place an order 24 hours in advance. Cheesecakes are made from scratch and carefully decorated with flavorful toppings to provide a rich and creamy texture. In addition, the bakery sells various baked goods, including homemade cookies (three for $1.50), muffins and brownies, depending on the day. Freshly brewed coffee ($2), hot chocolate ($2), smoothies ($5) and a selection of nine loose-leaf teas ($2) are also sold. Wi-Fi is available for those who want to take a seat inside the cozy interior decorated with family photos and a bookshelf. The bakery also offers catering. Gotta Love Cheesecake is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, visit gottalovecheesecake.com.
