Local restaurants, bars celebrate Cinco de Mayo with specials

Sunday is Cinco de Mayo, also known as the Fifth of May. It commemorates a Mexican battle — not Mexican Independence Day, as widely believed — but Las Vegans can revel in their own independence at any of the following celebrations:

Baja Miguel’s, South Point, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday, three-course menu with entree of rib-eye cilantro or seafood chimichanga and a margarita, $15.95. 7 to 10 p.m. Monday, complimentary tequila tasting with live mariachi music.

Caesars Palace, 3570 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Sunday, Shadow Bar, Race & Sports Book Bar and Seahorse Bar & Lounge, $10 Herradura shots and $6 Corona/Corona light.

Cantina Laredo, Tivoli Village, 430 S. Rampart Blvd. Adult party 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday with food and drink specials, cigar-rolling and more; family party from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday with food and drink specials, pony rides and more.

Dos Caminos, 10820 W. Charleston Blvd. Beginning at noon Sunday, outdoor street food fair in a 4,000-square-foot tent with stations including tacos, an al pastor spit, grilled corn, mango on a stick, agua fresca, tubs of beer and margaritas, $2 to $8.

El Cortez, 600 Fremont St. Sunday, $3 Patron margaritas at all casino bars, plus complimentary chips and salsa.

Hussong’s Cantina, Shoppes at Mandalay Place, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South, on Sunday is offering a special dish, Cinco de Drinko Rib-eye and Shrimp Banderilla ($18), cubed rib-eye and shrimp on a skewer with vegetables. Drink specials include $4 pints of Pacifico and Modelo Especial, $5 shots of Cazadores tequila, $20 “chalices” of Cazadores Margaritas and $20 buckets of Corona and Corona Light.

PBR Rockbar, Miracle Mile Shops, 3663 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Sunday, $5 street tacos and $18 Bud Light Lime and Lime-a-Rita buckets.

Park on Fremont, 506 Fremont St. Sunday, Mexican menu with such dishes as taquitos ($9.95) and tostadas ($4.95), plus outdoor grill with tacos a la carte; $5 Dos Equis XX drafts, $4 Tecate tallboys and $5 shots of Milagro tequila.

Rice & Co., Luxor, 3900 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Sunday, Fire Breathing Dragon roll (shrimp tempura, habanero, ghost chili pepper sauce, crabmeat, Pop Rocks and micro cilantro) and Mexican Samurai cocktail, $25.

RoadRunner Flamingo, 9820 W. Flamingo Road, party on the patio starting at 2 p.m. Sunday with Agave taco cart serving street-style tacos, $4 Wicked Tango Moongaritas, $2 Dos Equis pints.

Rockhouse, Grand Canal Shoppes, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Sunday, $5 Dos Equis bottles, $5 Sauza Hornitos Lime shots and $7 Margaritas.

Senor Frog’s, Treasure Island, 3300 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., $3 house tequila shots and two-for-one signature margarita yards. All day, Social Margarita Bucket for four to five people, priced at $45; 5:30 to 9 p.m., buffet including rolled pork carnitas, crispy chicken tacos, pozole, chicken mole, beef fajitas, fish ceviche and sopecitos. Cover charge $20 for males, $10 for females starting at 10 p.m.

Station Casinos, Cabo Mexican Restaurants at Boulder, Palace, Santa Fe and Sunset Stations, Amigo’s at Fiesta Henderson and Garduno’s at Fiesta Rancho. Friday through Sunday, Mixed Grill Fajita (shrimp, steak and chicken) $13.99, $5 appetizers including mini crisp tacos, Mexican pizza, mini tortas sliders, Tacos Dorados. Blue Agave at Fiesta Rancho, Jalapeno Margarita, $9 (half-price from 4 to 9 p.m.); 99-cent margaritas at all Station Casinos casino bars.

Tacos & Tequila, Luxor, 3900 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Friday through Sunday, Extreme Tacos including bouche (pig’s stomach), cesos (calf brains) and lengua (cow’s tongue), $3 a la carte, $5 guacamole, habanero chicken wings, flautas, fiesta nachos, chicken quesadillas, Dos Equis, El Jimador shots and sangria. Jabbarita (created in honor of the new “Jabbawockeez” show), $8; $8 Micheladas, Palomas and El Jimador Margaritas. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Mariachi Brunch (priced per item) with two-for-one El Jimador Margaritas and Bloody Marias.
