‘Modern Family’ actress granted restraining order against ex
Sarah Hyland, star of “Modern Family,” has been granted a temporary domestic violence restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, Matthew Prokop.
In documents obtained by TMZ, Hyland claims Prokop abused her physically and verbally in the last four years of their relationship.
The couple separated in August after five years, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In the documents, TMZ said Hyland alleges she was once pinned against a car by Prokop while he repeatedly called her an offensive slur aimed at women.
In another alleged incident, Julie Bowen, Hyland’s TV mom on the ABC sitcom, was asked by Hyland to help “peacefully end the relationship,” and in the attempt, Bowen witnessed the abuse, according to TMZ. They say the documents also state Prokop threatened to set fire to her home and threatened the life of her dog.
A Los Angeles judge granted the order requiring Prokop to stay 100 yards from Hyland at all times.
“Out of respect for the court, the process and all parties, I have advised Ms. Hyland not to comment on the matter,” Hyland’s attorney said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “We request that you respect the parties’ privacy during this time.”
