Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros boosting moods
July 25, 2013 - 8:59 am
“I want the whole damn world to come dance with me,” sings Alex Ebert, frontman for 11-piece indie rock collective Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, on “Man on Fire” from their 2012 disc “Here.”
Such utopian, idealized notions buoy the band’s irrepressible folk, which is like one big group hug set to a beat.
The Zeroes chase any clouds from the sky with solar-powered, feel-good singalongs brightened by ukulele, marimba, clavinet, accordion, radiant multipart harmonies and plenty of gospel-worthy hand claps.
No matter what kind of mood you’re in, this bunch will leave you in a better one.
