Rapper Fetty Wap is soaring, can’t be stopped

Fetty Wap's stock is soaring right now: "Trap Queen," his breakthrough single is reportedly double platinum, and the follow-up, "My Way," sits right next to its predecessor in the top 10 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, with a third track, "679," close behind and climbing.

With melodies that are instantly memorable, Fetty Wap (aka Willie Maxwell), is steadily gaining massive acclaim, with a convoy of celebrities feeling him, everyone from Rihanna and Beyonce to Kanye and Jay Z to Drake, who reached out personally with an offer to appear on a remix of "My Way," and Ed Sheerhan, who recently covered "Trap Queen."

Refreshingly, the 25-year-old from Patterson, N.J., seems unaffected by all the accolades. When praised for his pop prowess in interviews, the rapper always seems to make sure his Remy Boyz crew is sharing the spotlight. He also reminds everyone that while he may be hot right now, he's really just getting started, having been making music in earnest for only the last handful of years.

With a string of subsequent songs lined up, on his own — "Again," "D.A.M. (Dats All Me)," "Show You," and "No My Name" — in addition to being featured on newer tracks such as "Around the World" by Natalie La Rose and "Promises" by Mad Decent affiliate Bauuer, the young MC indeed seems to be just scratching the surface.

"He has melodies that, like, instantly get in your head," says Bauuer in a YouTube clip from Yours Truly and Adidas's Songs from Scratch series. "Even when you don't know the words, you just need to sing along to it."

You'll have your chance Sunday at Foxtail, as Fetty Wap stops by Vegas just as he's about to embark on an arena tour with Chris Brown, Kid Ink, Omarion and Teyana Taylor.
