See Tegan and Sara, Run the Jewels in Las Vegas this weekend

Updated October 20, 2017 - 11:43 pm

Tegan and Sara

These sisters-in-arms may have taken their once-folky sound to the dance floor in recent years, collaborating with Tiesto and touring with Katy Perry. But on their current tour, they’re commemorating the 10th anniversary of the seminal sentimentality of their fifth record, “The Con,” by performing the album acoustically in its entirety. Tegan and Sara get “Back in Your Head” at 9 p.m. Saturday at The Pearl at the Palms. Tickets start at $36; call 702-944-3200.

Run the Jewels

“Supreme Court Overturns Law Requiring Run the Jewels to Appear on Every Festival Lineup,” announced a headline on satrical music news website The Hard Times recently, goofing on the hip-hop duo’s ubiquity. But there’s a reason this pairing of rapper Killer Mike and rapper/producer El-P has been so in demand: They’re high on the list of hip-hop’s fiercest live acts. See Run the Jewels at 8 p.m. Friday at Brooklyn Bowl at The Linq. Tickets start at $35; call 702-862-2695.

Flying Lotus

There have been some great moments in three-dimensional entertainment, namely “Step Up 3-D.” Now, hip-hop-minded jazz-tronica producer Flying Lotus shall attempt to one-up that undisputed motion picture masterwork by performing live in 3-D. Will it rival the cinematic chronicles of a New York City street dance troupe? One can only hope. See Flying Lotus at 7 p.m. Thursday at Brooklyn Bowl. Tickets start at $32; call 702-862-2695.

Pixies

Back when you could still check the “college rock” box on Columbia House Music Club enrollment forms, the Pixies were one of the faces of alt-rock before it was called alt-rock. Decades later, their lineup has changed a tad, but their alternately cathartic and bittersweet sound has remained unchanged by the times it helped shape. See them at 7 p.m. Saturday at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Tickets start at $25; call 702-698-7778.

Hanson

“Mmmbop, ba duba dop / Ba du bop, ba duba dop / Ba du bop, ba duba dop  / Ba du-u-u, yeah!” Might as well start singing it now, because you’ll be humming those lines for days — it’ll seem more like weeks to co-workers — after seeing boys-to-men popsters Hanson at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay. Tickets are $40; call 702-632-7600.
