Garth Brooks ending run at Wynn
Garth Brooks will end his monthly solo acoustic shows at Wynn Las Vegas on Nov. 17, hotel officials announced Wednesday.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Wynn," Brooks said in a statement released by the hotel. "(Steve) Wynn told me that the Wynn audiences were some of the best in the world and he was right."
The shows began in December 2009 in an arrangement always described as open-ended, but planned to last five years. The reasons for the early breakup aren't cited in mutually admiring statements from the two.
The country superstar called Wynn "one of the smartest guys I have ever had the pleasure of talking to or listening to. He does everything top notch and is the easiest and best boss I have ever worked for. ... I just love him!"
Wynn said he thought of Brooks "as a brother and this will always be a home for him."
The only bump in the relationship came at the end of the first year, when Wynn eliminated tiered ticket pricing and made all seats a uniform $253.
The press release says Brooks plans to film the acoustic show next summer, but does not say he will return to the Wynn theater to do it.
Brooks had vowed not to tour again until the youngest of his three girls - who were 13, 15 and 17 when the Wynn shows began - graduated from high school. It's been widely assumed he will then embark on a full-blown comeback of albums and tours.
The remaining shows are Friday and Saturday, and Oct. 26 and 27 and Nov. 16 and 17.
