If you watched Joey Chestnut eat 68 hot dogs and thought the gustatory feat was a piece of cake, New York-New York wants you.
Saturday, would-be sausage mavens will face off in a qualifying round for the annual Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest. Eaters will gather on the Brooklyn Bridge in front of New York-New York starting at 1 p.m. when casino employees will fight for bragging rights by eating as many hot dogs as humanly possible.
At 2:30 p.m., military personnel and first responders are scheduled to duke it out over scores of hot dogs with their efforts benefiting charity.
The main event starts at 3 p.m. The male and female winners of the main event will receive the title “Nevada Hot Dog Eating Champions,” with both representing Las Vegas in the July 4 finals in New York. Admission and participation in the event is free and open to the public.
Ready the party outdoors? PBR Rock Bar in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort will kick off a monthly Summer Session patio party Thursday. The patio parties are scheduled for the last Thursday of each month through August. A special drink menu will be available from 7 to 9 p.m. Rock-a-Rita, Tropi-rita and other drinks featuring Patron. Drinks will be $8 each. Select tequila shots will cost $5; $50 buys you open-bar access all day.

Win with ‘Wheel’
If you haven’t watched “Wheel of Fortune” in a while, you may want to tune in next month. Caesars Entertainment Corp. has teamed up with the popular game show to give away more than $2 million in the coming weeks.
Visit a Total Rewards Center or the promotions area at any Caesars Entertainment property — Harrah’s, Caesars, Rio, Flamingo, Horseshoe, Planet Hollywood Resort, Paris, The Quad, Bally’s — and pick up a Wheel of Fortune Millionaire Maker game piece. A special puzzle is inside each piece. Then, watch “Wheel of Fortune” from May 13 to May 24. Two puzzles will be revealed each night. If your puzzle matches the in-show puzzle, you win $50,000 and a trip for two to Caesars Palace for the grand prize event. One of those 20 finalists will be selected at random and awarded $1 million.
