Wilson to appear on PBS “Soundstage”, previewing new album

Brian Wilson spans the generations in both his appeal and the people surrounding him onstage.

On Friday, Wilson tapes an episode of the PBS concert series “Soundstage” at The Venetian.

The band includes fellow Beach Boy Al Jardine as well as Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar, who both did a stint in the group in the 1970s. But it also has trumpeter Mark Isham, the film and TV composer of themes for shows such as “Once Upon A Time.”

And because this is a special and not just a concert stop, guest singers are promised to help Wilson debut songs from next spring’s new studio album, “No Pier Pressure.”

They include some young rockers from groups that carry an obvious Beach Boys influence: Nate Ruess of fun. and Sebu Simonian of Capital Cities.
