Victory for Strip daredevil comes with a wince

Germany’s World Cup triumph wasn’t exactly a win-win situation for Roma Hervida, a daredevil roller skater in “Absinthe.”

Hervida wanted Germany to win so bad she could taste it, but there was a downside: It meant keeping her vow to eat meat for the first time.

She kept her pregame promise, made on Facebook, to eat a bratwurst if her countrymen came through against Argentina on Sunday.

Wincing before taking a bite, she said, “This is for Germany.”

She watched all seven of Germany’s World Cup games at Hofbrauhaus Las Vegas, where more than 1,000 jammed the replica of the legendary Munich beer hall.

Moments after the game, she climbed on the shoulders of her 20-year skating partner, Sven Rauhe, stood up and flashed the victory sign.

“The last time Germany won, in 1990, I was in Cologne, working in Fantasialand,” said Hervida, who grew up in Rostock, in the former East Germany, on the Baltic Sea.

She was seen agonizing throughout the game, with her fingers clenched together, prayer-like.

“Mama mia! I’m still shaking,” she said, moments after the thrilling finish that saw Germany win, 1-0, in extra time on a shot by 22-year-old Bavarian Mario Goetze.

It made for a long, extra stressful day for Hervida and Rauhe, who is from Berlin. They had 8 and 10 p.m. performances in “Absinthe,” where they have performed their death-defying act on the smallest of stages for three years.

Also at the table was longtime Cirque du Soleil performer Jorg Lemke, an original and current cast member of “KA” and its 4,500 performances at the MGM Grand. He plays the evil character called The Counselor.

The Cosmopolitan announced that “Vegas Nocturne,” the show inside Rose. Rabbit. Lie., has closed. Rose. Rabbit. Lie. will continue to open at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday and feature live music and entertainment throughout the venue. …

The Broadway show-in-making that features Oscar Goodman, mob-attorney-turned-mayor, is moving closer to reality. Goodman continues to be very heavily involved in the process but doesn’t want to jinx it by talking about it. Much of the play borrows from his 2013 memoir “Being Oscar: From Mob Lawyer to Mayor of Las Vegas — Only in America.” …

Speaking of Broadway, former Siegfried and Roy manager Bernie Yuman is deeply involved in “On Your Feet,” the musical based on the life of Grammy winner Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio. Helmed by “Kinky Boots” director Jerry Mitchell, “On Your Feet” will premiere in Chicago next summer before moving into the Nederlander Theatre in the fall of 2015. Yuman is partnering with Jimmy Nederlander, chairman of the Nederlander Group.
