Premier loan officers answer the phone

Buying a home is one of those things that is exciting and scary at the same time. Perhaps the scariest part for most people, though, is when it comes time to apply for their mortgage loan.

“By its very nature, the act of applying for a mortgage loan is a very personal and often an emotionally charged process, because borrowers have to turn over pretty much everything there is to know about their financial circumstances,” said Rick Piette, owner of Premier Mortgage Lending in Las Vegas.

“That’s why I made it a top priority to establish a team of experienced, highly professional loan officers who would deliver the exceptional service I believe every client deserves. One important member of that team — and I’m proud to say I’ve been lucky enough to work with her for 25 years — is Cheryll Acevedo.”

Acevedo has spent her entire 30-year career in mortgage lending, the last 20 as a loan officer in Las Vegas. She knows from experience how much her customers rely on her abilities.

“Customers want assurance that their loan officer is experienced and knowledgeable. They want to know they’ve chosen someone who will put all their efforts toward finding them the best loan at the lowest cost,” Acevedo said. “The bottom line is they need to know and trust that their lender has their very best interests at heart. At Premier, that’s precisely what they find.”

That’s a lot easier to say than to do, Acevedo said.

“Being an effective loan officer takes more than simply going down a list and checking off boxes. My experience allows me to anticipate every possibility and get my clients over any hurdles that may arise. Plus, my long-term relationships with the Las Vegas lending and real estate industry give me a considerable advantage — one that really benefits my customers.”

When asked about the changes she’s seen in the mortgage industry over the years, Acevedo reveals a viewpoint that most people don’t consider.

“On one hand, things have changed when it comes to the amount of documentation required. For example, there are more checks and balances in place to verify a borrower’s income, employment and other information,” she said.

“However, the basic guidelines for getting buyers qualified for a loan haven’t changed. It may take some creative thinking to find alternatives if the first path doesn’t work out, which is one of the things I love about my job. Keeping at it until a solution is found.

“Another great thing about Premier is that since we’re mortgage brokers, we have the flexibility of seeking out several different loan options. There’s only one application, multiple lender replies, and we help analyze those responses to find the best option. It’s not like a bank that only offers their own loans with a single underwriter.”

Premier Mortgage’s true “No Fee” loan has also helped Acevedo’s clients save thousands of dollars. But there’s an additional advantage that’s not often considered, Acevedo said.

“A true ‘No Fee’ can also work to the buyer’s advantage in getting the home they really want. If a seller has agreed to contribute to the closing costs — and has a choice of buyers — the buyer who will cost them less money will be much more attractive. In that case, lower loan fees becomes a win-win situation for everyone.”

As the current economic climate continues to improve — from jobs to development to rising population — 2017 and 2018 are shaping up to be a great time to buy a home here, Acevedo said..

“First and foremost, it’s the personalized service we give. We’re all family here, we all root for each other, and we all help each other because working as a team gets the best results for our customers,” she said. “I think one thing that impresses our clients more than anything else is that we actually answer our phones. A lot of people are simply amazed by that. But it’s just one small part of our overall commitment to premium service.”
